Ready to create meaningful changes in your life? Well, being brutally honest in articulating your current reality is the first of four steps in the creative process. This post will dig deeper into this first step.
So, what is your current reality? What is true now in your life that you want to change? The more honest you are, the more you’ll get out of the process.
Here are a few sample situations that might help you better articulate your own currently reality:
My photography business is down 30%. I need to do something different but I don’t know what to do.
My personal and work life are intolerably out of balance.
I have so much work that I’m not serving my customers as well as I want to. They love my images but I’m afraid they won’t refer me unless I deliver more than they expect from me, but I’m so far behind I fear I’ll never catch up.
I’ve been feeling bored and stuck for weeks now and I don’t know how to get unstuck.
I have a lot of resources but I’m not leveraging them to my best advantage.
I’m have a lot of talent but I’m not making enough money to get by. I need help.
I have a job that drains me, but I’m afraid to leave because there are so few jobs out there.
Now, get real and put your present situation in writing. Now matter how you feel and what you think about your present situation, writing it down is a powerful step. Go ahead. And check back again for help with the next three steps in the creative process.
